Originally from Houston, Texas U.S.A, Jackie Hyland currently works as a project analyst with Angel Ventures Mexico in Mexico City, México, an angel investment group that raises equity investments between MX$2 million ($0.16 million) and MX$20 million ($1.6 million). While in Mexico she has served as a Mentor/Judge for Startup Weekend Mexico, Venture Institute, and DevfestW Hackathon. She is also a Fulbright Scholar as part of the 2012-2013 Fulbright-Garcia Robles Binational Business program. Before Mexico, Jackie worked on economic development projects in rural and indigenous communities in Panama. She was also Founder and Director of the business capacity building organization, La Red de Mentoras, a program focused connecting businesswomen in rural and indigenous communities to successful businesswomen in Panama City and providing business training and seed capital. Jackie received her B.A. in International Relations in Journalism at Baylor University and is currently taking MBA courses at the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México.
